316 Van Buren Ridge, White Sulphur Springs, WV – An Interview with Owner

316 Van Buren Ridge, Greenbrier Sporting Club

Sited on a ridge overlooking the 18th green of the Snead Golf Course at the Greenbrier Sporting Club and surrounded by mountain views, this architect-designed resort home is a perfect vacation getaway or year-round residence. Its well-thought-out details include a slate roof, 4 stone fireplaces, local and exotic woods, 4 private bedroom suites and covered decks for outdoor dining and entertaining.

We sat down with one of the owners to discuss her thoughts and feelings about her family’s home.

PG:  What are some of your favorite aspects of the interior of your home?

Owner:  The custom railing, fireplaces, wormy chestnut ceiling, kitchen, and hardwood floors.  Every bedroom has a walkout porch.  There are washer and dryer hookups on all three levels.  The house has insulation blown in the walls and, therefore, is always comfortable during the cold winter months as well as year-round.

PG:  What are some of your favorite aspects of the exterior of your home?

Owner:  The red windows, slate roof, heated coils under the driveway, the back deck, side porch, and breakfast area.  We also have a great view of the fireworks from the Hotel from the front of the house.

PG:  What is one of your favorite memories in your home?

Owner:  The countless hours of porch rocking while watching glorious West Virginia sunsets.

PG:  What inspired you to build your home?

Owner:  We chose to build because my husband is a classically-trained chef.  He was able to customize the kitchen area of the house, as well as the pub that is on the lower floor.

PG:  What would you tell a prospective buyer about your house?

Owner:  The house is a wonderful deal on a once of a lifetime opportunity.

PG:  What do you love about this area?

Owner:  Living in the Ridges in so convenient to White Sulphur Springs and Lewisburg.  This house on Van Buren Ridge is on the frost line during the winter months (meaning it is usually precipitation as rain), while the higher elevations will have ice/snow.  The Sporting Club has always been most prompt with any necessary snow removal.  Living in the Ridges is easy and so relaxing.  It’s a wonderful community filled with special folks.
